Due to the threat of severe weather, all three Jefferson County Tax Office locations will close its
doors today at 1:00 p.m.
All locations will re-open Wednesday, January 25 at 8:00 a.m.

Due to the increased threat of heavy rainfall, high winds and potential flooding this afternoon, the Lamar Institute of Technology has determined that all campuses and offices will be cancelling all classes for the remainder of the day on January 24, 2023.
Due to weather related safety concerns, Nederland ISD will be releasing students early today. Elementary students will be released at 1:00 pm and Secondary students will be released at 1:30 pm. Buses will run their normal routes. All after school campus activities have been cancelled.
Motorists traveling on southbound U.S. 96 into the Parkdale Mall area will have to find alternate routes as the U.S. 69 south entrance and exit ramp at Dowlen Road will be closed for approximately three months, according to a Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) media alert.

Senior John Sanderson of Hamshire-Fannett High School competed in the Carl Lewis High School Track Invitational last weekend hosted by the University of Houston.
Sanderson placed second in the 60-meter hurdles in a personal best time of 8.02, which currently ranks No. 9 in the nation.
