Just before 1 a.m. Saturday, July 11, Beaumont police responded to the area of Delaware and Lucas in reference to numerous reports of shots fired, according to a news release.
A 23-year-old female victim, who was shot, but wasn't in life-threatening condition, flagged officers down at 4190 Delaware and said her boyfriend had been shot and was still in the apartment. EMS pronounced the man deceased at the scene, according to the release. The victim was identified as 24-year-old Clifford Earl Jones Jr.
Preliminary investigation revealed the shots were fired from outside the apartment. Detectives are still interviewing witnesses and are in the early stages of the investigation.
