Beaumont police say a 21-year-old Beaumont man robbed a dad at gunpoint – in front of the victim’s two toddlers – at an apartment complex on North Major Drive Saturday, June 18.

At about 6:30 p.m., on the eve of Father’s Day, officers responded to Lakeside Apartments at 6195 North Major Drive after a Beaumont dad called reporting he had just been robbed. According to a news release from the Beaumont Police Department (BPD), 21-year-old Jereem Ajani Cunningham held the victim at gunpoint while robbing the man in front of his two young children.

“The suspect fled in a dark gray Dodge Charger with Georgia plates,” officers reported. “While officers were on scene taking the report and checking for possible video, the victim saw the suspect vehicle pass the apartments, headed north on Major. He alerted the officers on scene and officers attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver evaded at a high rate of speed and was eventually stopped. Officers located a gun in Cunningham’s vehicle.”

Officer arrested Cunningham for aggravated robbery and evading in a motor vehicle. He was transported and released to Jefferson County Correctional Facility.
