The investigation into Mayor Becky Ames' nail salon visit has been dropped by the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation due to a statewide executive order, according to a news release. The licensing department has dropped hundreds of similar investigations across Texas.

Governor Greg Abbot's executive order allows for the reopening of cosmetology establishments retroactively back to April 2, 2020. Therefore, the department has dropped any investigations into alleged violations that occured between April 2 and May 7. Accordingly, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office will pursue no further investigation or prosecution of the allegation involving Mayor Becky Ames.
