Port Neches woman accused of stealing more than $1.7 million

A woman that worked as an office manager for BioMedical Waste Solutions, on Jade Ave in Port Arthur, is behind bars. 51-year old Thalia Powers, of Port Neches  is accused of stealing more than $1.7 million from the company between April of 2018 and February of 2025.

Investigators say Powers made 154 online web payments from a business checking account belonging to BioMedical Waste Solutions into her personal accounts. The total amount stole, $1.748,901.35. 

Powers was arrested Thursday, Oct 1 2026 and charged with theft of property equal or greater than $300,000, which is a first degree felony.  Judge Mark Derouen set Powers' bond at $750,000 Friday, Oct 2, morning. BioMedical is a waste disposal facility.
