PAPD charges woman in Wednesday murder

Just before 1 p.m. May 13, Port Arthur police received a report of an unresponsive person in a wooded area in the 5000 block of Twin City Hwy, according to a news release. Officers arrived and found the man deceased.

The victim, identified as 23-year-old Taylor Rodriguez, sustained injuries during an altercation that investigators believe led to his death. A woman identified as Lachrisha Abshire, 33, was taken into custody a short time later and charged with murder.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death.
