Leak impacts Nederland residential water

Early in the morning of Aug. 18, the city of Nederland experienced a severe water leak on Nederland Avenue near the DD7 canal, the city advised residents.

Temporary repairs were completed the same day, with crews completing the repair Aug. 19. Residents were asked to conserve water (especially watering their yards and outdoor watering) as much as possible to remove unnecessary stress on the water system. No boil water notice was enacted.

Eastbound traffic on Nederland Avenue between 27th Street and 25th Street was reduced to one lane the first day, with both eastbound lanes closed Aug. 19 for the repair.

Anyone with any questions concerning this matter is asked to contact City Hall at (409) 723-1503.

Additional road work on Nederland Avenue was on-going as of press time in front of the Exygon property, the city further advised. Traffic driving east has one lane of traffic available (from the railroad tracks to S. 9th Street) while the westbound lanes are open. Nederland Avenue by Twin City Highway is closed to one lane as traffic approaches the intersection to cross the railroad tracks. After the work on Nederland Avenue is completed, the contractor will begin concrete street repairs on 27th Street from Nederland Avenue to Avenue H, according to the city advisement.
