From the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office:

“We are getting many inquiries about citizens being able to immediately return home to Jefferson County,” the release reads.

As of 7:30 a.m. Aug. 27, first responders including JCSO Deputies, local law enforcement agencies, DPS, TXDOT, etc. were assessing roadways and trying to clear debris.

“There are several areas throughout our region who have no power at this time.  Electrical crews need first priority,” according to the release. “It is dangerous to drive on the roadways that have not been cleared.  Downed power lines with live wires, downed trees and other random debris could cause you to get injured.

“Please allow the area's to be assessed before you return.”
