“To streamline efficiency and maintain consistency with practices in other counties, the Jefferson County Tax Assessor-Collector Office in Beaumont will become the sole location processing all Auto Dealer work and auto transactions from financial institutions, effective May 4,” announced the office of Jefferson County Tax Assessor/Collector Kate Brooks-Carroll this week. “This adjustment is not a reduction of service. Dealers and financial institutions will continue to receive the same level of support as before — the only change is the location where these transactions are processed. All other operations will continue as normal, and all three branch offices will remain fully open to serve the general public.
“We are also actively researching the implementation of acceptance of ACH payments to provide additional convenience. This improvement will leverage technology to reduce the need for in-person visits. Additional details will be provided as this highly anticipated service becomes available.”
