Household Hazardous Waste and Scape Tire Collection Event set May 4 in Silsbee

The South East Texas Regional Planning Commission (SETRPC) will host a Household Hazardous Waste and Scrap Tire Collection Event from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4 in the Silsbee High School parking lot, 1575 U.S. 96 North. The event is open to all southeast Texas households; therefore, businesses are not eligible to participate.
During this event, the SETRPC collects items that could pose health and environmental risks if disposed of improperly. 
SETRPC will limit the amount of paint collected to 10 1-gallon paint cans and two 5-gallon paint cans. Materials not accepted during this event include electronics, appliances, oversized tires, explosives, ammunition, garbage, scrap metal, mercury, smoke detectors, exit signs, medical waste and medications/pharmaceuticals.
The SETRPC will accept household hazardous items including cleaners, antifreeze, car batteries, used oil, insecticides, swimming pool chemicals, and much more.
