Free naloxone (Narcan) training Feb. 18-19

The East Texas Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (ETCADA) and the Greater Longview United Way will present free naloxone training Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 18 and 19, in Beaumont and Orange.

The training is for caregivers, parents, community members, and anyone interested in learning more.
Naloxone, also known by brand names like Narcan and RiVive, is a life-saving medication used to rapidly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

The first class is Feb. 18, 2-6:30 p.m., at the R.C. Miller Memorial Library, 1605 Dowlen Rd. in Beaumont. The second class is 9 a.m. Feb. 19 at the Recovery Council of SETX, 4675 Washington Blvd., Suite C, in Beaumont. 

The final class is 2 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Recovery Council of SETX, 3319 Bowling Ln. in Orange.
