The Food and Drug Administration upgraded the recall of eggs to its highest risk level of C1 on Aug, 12, 2026 due to the threat of Salmonella. The recall of nearly 1.6 million dozens impacts multiple stores across the nation, including Texas. Kroger and Brookshire Brothers are stores possibly impacted. Avian Olvera, with the Kroger store on Phelan Blvd in Beaumont, told The Examiner " We have pulled the eggs off the shelf". Around 100 illnesses were reported with more than 20 hospitalized across the nation. No deaths have been reported. The recalled eggs have an idenifying code number printed on side of the carton. Only P-1950 or 0840962 with a Julian Date between 157 and 184 printed on the side of the carton are included in the recall.
