A disciplinary panel of the Texas Medical Board Dec. 18 announced the temporary suspension of a Beaumont rheumatologist who was arrested for attempting to solicit prostitution from a minor, a second-degree felony.

Dr. Sadiq Ali, 33, was arrested Oct. 23 after a sex sting was conducted by local authorities. Ali ran an office on Fannin Street and was still scheduling patient appointments the week of his arrest.

The TMB disciplinary board suspended the doctor's license "after determining his continuation in the practice of medicine poses a continuing threat to public welfare. The suspension was effective immediately.

"The Board panel found that on Oct. 23, 2020, Dr. Ali was arrested by the Beaumont Police Department and charged with prostitution, younger than 18 years of age. A temporary suspension hearing with notice will be held as soon as practicable with 10 days' notice to Dr. Ali, unless the hearing is specifically waived by Dr. Ali. The temporary suspension remains in place until the Board takes further action."
