Council to elect new mayor pro tempore

The Beaumont City Council will vote on a potentially new mayor pro tempore at its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday afternoon. 

The position is currently held by Councilman W.L. Pate, who was elected to the position last year. The mayor pro tem serves as mayor if the top elected official is absent for a number of reasons. Mayor pro tem terms last a year.
