The City of Beaumont will kick off its five-day charette, Feb. 9 from 5-7 p.m. at the Downtown Event Centre, to gather feedback on its updated Comprehensive Plan. A public charrette is a community meeting where residents, designers, and officials work together to shape a plan or project. People share ideas and feedback in real time, not after decisions are made, so the final design reflects local needs and concerns.
The Comprehensive Plan is a community-driven roadmap updated every 20 years to guide growth and development for the next 20 years, according to the city's website. It will also include decisions related to land use, transportation, housing, infrastructure, economic opportunity, and quality of life; ensuring Beaumont grows in a way that reflects shared community values and priorities.
Community input is essential. Residents are encouraged to share their ideas by taking the community survey at https://www.planbeaumont.com./ and participating in upcoming in-person planning sessions.
There will be more Comprehensive Plan events throughout the week of February 9-13th.
The Downtown Event Centre is located at 700 Crockett St. in Beaumont. For more information, visit https://www.planbeaumont.com./
