On Thursday, Aug. 8, Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., will visit Beaumont to celebrate completion of the Texas General Land Office's (GLO) Homeowner Assistance Program in Southeast Texas as well as three Regional Mitigation Program grants recently approved for the Jefferson County, Orange County and city of Jasper.
The event is 2:45 p.m. at the Jefferson County Courthouse's Commissioners’ Court, 1149 Pearl St., Beaumont.
Officials expected to attend are Jefferson County Judge Jeff Branick, Orange County Judge John Gothia, Hardin County Judge Wayne McDaniel, Beaumont Mayor Roy West, Jasper Mayor Anderson Land and other local elected officials and partners.
The celebration of completion of home rebuilding in Southeast Texas, recently approved Regional Mitigation Program projects.
Earlier this year, the GLO approved three grants totaling more than $76 million for regional mitigation projects in Jefferson, Jasper and Orange counties.
Buckingham will celebrate approval of the following grants:
• Jefferson County Drainage District No. 7 Flood Control Improvements, $41,367,400
• Orange County Drainage District Drainage Improvements, $31,091,100
• City of Jasper Road and Sewer Improvements, $3,974,000
