BPD investigates shooting

Around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, Beaumont police responded to Cypress Bend Apartments, located at 1605 Cornerstone Ct, in reference to a victim of a shooting. 

Upon arrival, officers located a gunshot victim in a vehicle in the parking lot. The second person involved was located in a nearby apartment and detained. Preliminary investigation revealed that a verbal disturbance between two individuals escalated into both parties firing handguns at each other. The gunshot victim was transported to a local hospital and listed in stable condition. Detectives are interviewing several witnesses at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
