June 30, Beaumont ISD received confirmation that a child nutrition staff member who works at Blanchette Elementary tested positive for COVID-19, according to a news release. The employee was involved in food distribution up until June 29; however, at all times the employee wore a mask and gloves, followed frequent sterilization measures and did not come in direct contact with any member of the public.

"As such, CDC guidance provides that the risk of someone contracting COVID-19 from the employee is low and this notice is provided in an abundance of caution," the release reads. "In addition, Blanchette Elementary is closed for deep cleaning, and will resume operations as scheduled on July 13, 2020."

"If you picked up a meal from Blanchette during the last two weeks, please continue to closely monitor your health. Should you exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19, please contact your health provider immediately. In addition, please continue all other safeguards outlined by the CDC including frequently washing your hands with soap and water, avoiding touching your face, staying home if you feel sick, and cleaning frequently touched surfaces and objects daily.

"We will continue to comply with all state and local guidance and strictly enforce BISD’s rigorous health screening, social distancing, and sanitization practices for all programs. The health and safety of our students and community remains our top priority, and the District will continue to closely monitor the guidance from the Local Health Department as it continues summer operations. We appreciate your cooperation as we work through these challenges and continue to support our Beaumont ISD community."
