Barricades come down

Aug. 23, the roadways near the Gilbert Building (328 Bowie St. in downtown Beaumont) have been reopened following a fire that consumed the building June 6.

The barricades were removed to improve vehicle traffic flow, but the adjacent sidewalks will remain closed, according to city spokesperson Tracy Kennick.

“Please note that the roadways may need to be barricaded again during high wind events,” of sustained winds of 40 mph or greater or gusts of 58 mph or greater, as well as future construction, Kennick advised.
