London, 1935. The rather dull Richard Hannay (Greer) encounters a woman who claims to be a spy. When she is suddenly murdered, Hannay finds himself the focus of a nationwide manhunt led by a mysterious organization called “The 39 Steps.” This film noir gem is a hilarious comedy full of dazzling, inventive stagecraft and virtuoso performances that will have you rolling in the aisles until the death-defying, climatic finale. See an onstage train chase, handcuffs, missing fingers, and even some good old-fashioned romance.

“The 39 Steps” first premiered in the U.S. at Boston University Theatre in 2007, then opened on Broadway at the American Airlines Theatre in 2007. It has since returned to Broadway twice in 2015 and 2019.
