An undercover purchase of cocaine led to the indictment of a man for delivery of a controlled substance by a Jefferson County grad jury on Jan. 25.

Esteban Avalos Jr., 24, of Beaumont, apparently sold 4.9 grams of cocaine to an undercover police officer on Oct. 28, 2022, according the affidavit for arrest warrant.

The undercover officer reportedly contacted Avalos by cell phone to purchase a quarter-ounce of powder cocaine. Avalos advised the undercover officer to come to a residence on Avenue D, park in the back and meet at the drug dealer’s truck.

The undercover officer allegedly paid Avalos $400 for two plastic baggies containing powder cocaine.
