The Boomtown Film and Music Festival returns to downtown Beaumont on Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13, at multiple venues including the Jefferson Theatre (345 Fannin St.), the Art Museum of Southeast Texas (500 Main St.), Texas Energy Museum (600 Main St.) and Jazz & Jokes Club (695 Orleans St.).

Shrek the Musical

The Kelly High School Drama Dawgs presents “Shrek the Musical” on Friday, May 5 through Sunday, May 7. Showtimes are 6:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at mkchs.com/drama. The 6:30 p.m. show includes dinner and tickets are $45.

Fighting to end Alzheimer’s

Findings from the 2023 Alzheimer’s Association Disease Facts and Figures annual report showed that more than 6 million Americans are living with the disease, which is a type of dementia that affects memory, thinking and behavior. Symptoms eventually grow severe enough to interfere with daily tasks.

The Lutcher Theater closes their 2022-23 season with the Broadway musical comedy “Tootsie” on Monday, May 1, at 7:30 p.m.

WWE

The WWE, who is the world-wide leader in entertainment, returns to Beaumont’s Ford Arena after a five-year hiatus for “Saturday Night’s Main Event” on Saturday, April 29, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $20 and can be purchased online at ticketmaster.

AMSET

The Art Museum of Southeast Texas (AMSET) will host “Margaret Smithers-Crump: Kinship” as it’s spring exhibition on view now through June 18. Smithers-Crump is a Houston-based sculptor, whose work focuses on the vulnerability and interconnectedness of the Earth’s diverse life forms and ecosystems.
