Family Day at the W.H. Stark House

Take a trip back in time during the late 1800s and early 1900s to experience what it was like growing up in the W.H. Stark House through the perspective of the young H.J. “Lutcher” Stark during their annual Family Day event Saturday, Sept. 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

‘9 to 5’

Beaumont Community Players presents “9 to 5 – The Musical” on Sept. 15-16, Sept. 22-23 and Sept. 28-30. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. on Thursday-Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sept. 23.

Symphony

The Symphony of Southeast Texas will begin their 71st season Saturday, Sept. 16, with “Elegance of Dance” at the Julie Rogers Theatre at 7:30 p.m.  The concert begins with Verdi’s “Nabucco Overture,” the opera that launched Verdi’s career as an operatic composer, a career that made him famous.

Massive motorcycle parade headed to Beaumont

Motorcycles have a history that dates back to the second half of the 19th century. In 1894, Hildebrand & Wolfmüller were the first to produce a “motorcycle,” and it didn’t take long before Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company and Harley-Davidson came along to help explode its popularity.
