A night of awe and wonder

Hope Women’s Resource Clinic in Beaumont has been a community staple for nearly three decades. What began at a local church serving less than 100 women in a year and has grown to serving more than 4,700 clients. It is an outreach of the Christian community to women and their families with unplanned pregnancies expressed through evangelism, counseling, medical assistance and education by the Glory of God.

In fulfillment of their mission, Jeanette Harvey, Executive Director of the Hope Women’s Resource Clinic, explained the clinic provides unconditional, Christ-centered medical care to women and their families facing unplanned pregnancies. Rooted in the love of Jesus, they offer compassionate healthcare, practical support, and the hope of the Gospel to empower life-affirming choices and transform lives.

The clinic educates clients on abstinence, parenting, and spiritual matters, plus provides a variety of services of men such as limited STD testing and treatment for both women and men. Hope Women’s Resource Clinic also works with other partners throughout the community for housing, food, transportation and Medicaid.

With growing need of support and funding, the center will host their annual Hope Gala on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 5:45 p.m. at Doggett Ford Park (5115 Interstate 10) in Beaumont. Individual tickets are $150, and table prices start at $1,250. Those can be purchased online at hopeclinicpartners.com/gala or by calling (409) 898-2211 or (409) 898-4005.

“It’s our largest fundraising event of the year,” said Harvey. “Funds raised are half of our yearly budget.”

This year’s theme is “Awe & Wonder,” which jumped out to Harvey during meditation.

“It was inspired by God’s word,” she said. “Habakkuk 1:5 – ‘Look at the nations and watch – For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.’ I really felt the Lord tell me this was the theme. We would like you reflect on the astonishing, life-changing work of God through the Hope Clinic. From the earliest heartbeat to restored families, He is doing something in our days that we wouldn’t believe – even if we were told.”

The evening will be filled with worship, stories, fabulous food with a large variety of silent auction items as well as a program with guest speaker Eric Metaxas, who is the No. 1 New York Times Bestselling author of “Bonhoeffer” and many other books including “Is Atheism Dead?,” “Martin Luther,” “Amazing Grace,” and “Letter to the American Church.”

His latest work is “Religionless Christianity: God’s Answer to Evil.” Metaxas has also written more than 30 children’s books and is the host of the nationally syndicated “Eric Metaxas Radio Show” on TBN and “Socrates in the City.”

“Eric brings a passionate, insightful voice to the challenges facing believers today and we’re thrilled to welcome him to this year’s evening of Awe and Wonder,” said Harvey.

Those in attendance will also hear testimonials from former clients and a “State of the Union” regarding the Hope Women’s Resource Clinic.

“We built a 3,400 square foot parenting center on our property at 3470 Laurel St. It has allowed us to move all the parenting another building – more classes, distribution, and more materials. That’s going to allow us more space for medical, which is another reason why our numbers have increased because we of what all we can do. We have two ultrasound rooms now instead of one and we have two labs instead of one and an extra assessment room.”

The Hope Women’s Resource Clinic will also open a second clinic in Port Arthur. According to Harvey, the center has been gutted, framed with a roof and will soon have electricity and plumbing.

“Every life touched by Hope Clinic is a story of that awe-inspiring, redemptive power,” said Harvey. “We invite you to witness it for yourself.”
