‘Cirque Dreams Holidaze’ swings into the Lutcher

It’s a holiday spectacle like no other. “Cirque Dreams Holidaze” returns to the Lutcher Theater for two performances on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. As the longest-running cirque holiday theatrical event, Cirque Dreams Holidaze wraps the wonder of the season in a Broadway-style production filled with breathtaking circus artistry, making it a can’t-miss show for the entire family.

“We are delighted to welcome ‘Cirque Dreams Holidaze’ back to the Lutcher Theater. This production brings an unparalleled blend of holiday cheer and circus magic that is perfect for families, friends, and guests of all ages,” said Lynae Sanford, executive director of the Lutcher Theater. “It’s the kind of spectacular, multi-generational event that captures the excitement of the holidays and fills our theater with joy and wonder.”

As a hallmark production for the holiday season, Cirque Dreams Holidaze has toured nationwide, garnering acclaim for its festive and unique take on classic holiday entertainment. Each performance combines beloved seasonal tunes, spellbinding acts, and beautiful staging to create an immersive experience that has enchanted audiences year after year.

The Wilson Brothers—Kevin and Marcel Wilson—return as directors, creative directors, and choreographers for the 2024 tour. Their impressive credits include collaborations with Madonna, Beyoncé, Toni Braxton, Tom Cruise, and Wayne Brady. They are also set to open the highly anticipated musical Hercules aboard Disney Cruise Lines in 2025. The brothers have toured the world with artists such as Janet Jackson (All for You and Damita Jo promotional tours), Britney Spears (Onyx Hotel tour), Christina Aguilera (Stripped and Back to Basics world tours), and Cher (Final Farewell/Dressed to Kill tour).

“This show is filled with magic, love, and lots of cheer,” said Marcel Wilson. “From the performers to the costuming and story, audiences will leave feeling the Christmas spirit. This show is very family-oriented, with a whimsical flair that will have everyone laughing, smiling from ear to ear, and in constant awe of our talented company members.”

Kevin Wilson added that Cirque Dreams Holidaze stands apart from other holiday productions. “We have taken the traditional spirit of Christmas and amplified it with over-the-top costumes, stellar music, and innovative staging and choreography,” he said. “There is nothing quite like the magic of Cirque Dreams Holidaze. With its unparalleled and unique acts, it is a jaw-dropping tour de force.”

Each show features 20 original musical arrangements performed by artists from Canada, Chile, Ethiopia, France, Kazakhstan, Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Venezuela. Performers don 325 costumes created from 300 bolts of fabric.

According to Sanford, the Lutcher Theater is hosting the “teching” of Cirque Dreams Holidaze, meaning the company will be in residence at the Lutcher for 11 days to prepare the lights, sound, and other technical aspects, as well as rehearse for the 2024 tour.

“It is such an honor for the Lutcher to be considered a leader in the performing arts industry, possessing the facilities and professional abilities to meet the personnel and technical needs necessary to tech a production of this caliber,” said Sanford. “We are grateful to the agents and producers who entrusted this opportunity to us.

“Teching at the Lutcher also means the production company is renting 32 hotel rooms in Orange and eating and shopping with Orange businesses for 11 days. We are so grateful to Cirque Dreams Holidaze for robustly supporting our local economy.”

Tickets for Cirque Dreams Holidaze range from $35 to $90 and are available for purchase online at lutcher.org or by calling the box office at (409) 886-5535. The Lutcher Theater is located at 707 Main Ave. in downtown Orange.
