On Thursday, Oct 22, Beaumont police located a vehicle believed to be involved in an earlier hit-and-run crash in the 2900 block of South 8th Street. With the assistance of a license plate reader from the Beaumont Police Department's Real Time Center the vehicle was located.
The driver, 21-year old Marquese Thomas, sped off leading police on a chase that ended with a crash on the I-10 east feeder road near Washington Blvd. Thomas struck two vehicles and a pedestrian during the pursuit. He fled on foot and was quickly apprehended.
The vehicle Thomas was driving was reported stolen out of Fort Bend County. A gun and suspected narcotics were found in the car. Thomas is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading, and unlawfully carrying a weapon
