Two former Port Neches - Groves ’ standouts were selected last weekend in the MLB Draft. Grant Rogers (pitcher, McNeese) was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 11th Round (334th overall) and Khristian Curtis (pitcher, Arizona St.) was picked in the 12th Round (347th overall) by the Pittsburg Pirates.

Rogers spent the last two seasons with the McNeese with stellar performances in 30 appearances and posted a breakout year during the 2023 campaign. In 2023, he made 15 starts enroute to a 12-1 record and league best 1.82 ERA. Curtis struck out 58 batters on the season for the Sun Devils and had several career highs on the year, including nine strikeouts over 5.1 innings and a career-best 7.0 innings pitched with no runs allowed against USC – both on the road.
