In a presentation to the Beaumont Independent School District Board of Trustees scheduled for July 22, administration outlines a plan to raise the number of students meeting grade level assessment on the state standardized STAAR test.

Less than 7% of the district’s 1,130 students in grade six met expectations on the math STAAR exam, and only 2% of the district’s 7th grade students met expectations on the math STAAR exam. Phalen at Smith Middle School averaged 1% of students meeting the goal of the math STAAR test for 6th and 7th grade.

The attached PDF breaks down the preliminary STAAR report by grade and campus – and also includes the 2019 STAAR scores for reference.
