Lamar Cardinals

Just a day after winning the Southland Conference Championship tournament receiving the league’s automatic bid, the soccer team will play No. 8 seed LSU on Friday, Nov. 11, at 5:30 p.m. in Baton Rouge.

“It’s just a fantastic opportunity,” said head coach Nathan Kogut. “I can’t say enough about how excited we are just to be a part of the NCAA tournament, to win the double, and to have a chance to be one of 64 teams still standing. It’s awesome. The girls are pumped to be able to go play a Power 5 school closeby, so people can come watch. It’s a great opportunity and one of those things we’re looking forward to. Any time you get to play in November, it’s a big deal.”

This will be the third meeting between the Cardinals and Tigers. LSU is 3-0 vs. Lamar and have outscored LU 9-0 in those three matches.
Should the Cardinals win, they would face No. 1 Florida State or Florida Gulf Coast.

The men’s basketball team got a scare Nov. 7 from Division III St. Thomas, but the Cards walked away with a thrilling 63-61 victory to open the season 1-0.

Junior Chris Pryor led the team with 23 points and was joined in double figures by classmate Jakevion Buckley (17).
LU will next play at No. 14 TCU on Friday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m.
