The Lamar State College-Orange Bass Club duo of Trent Buchholtz and Dakota Posey traveled over 21 hours to fish the Strike King Lure Company Bassmaster College Series at Saginaw Bay in Michigan last weekend and qualified for the National Championship.

On Day 1, the team totaled 20 pounds, 14 ounces and had a big bass of 5 pounds, 8 ounces to place third as the team held on to compete in the 2022 Strike King Bassmaster College Series National Championship on Winyay Bay in Georgetown, South Carolina, on Sept. 24.

Fellow teammates Jack Tindel and Brett Fregia have already secured their spot to the National Championship while Spencer Brister, Roeh Burton, Ethan Tant and Brendon Brones will look to qualify this weekend in Lincoln, Alabama.

Drew Tran and Tyler Shearin of the Orangefield Fishing Team placed fourth at the Texas Bass Nation State Fishing Tournament with a two-day total of 33.01 pounds.
