Adrian Ray White, 44, was indicted Jan. 19 for injury to an elderly individual, the victim turning out to be his own mother.

According to a report filed on Jan. 3 by officer Jonathan McCauley with the Beaumont Police Department, officers were called to the 3000 block of Saint James Blvd. in reference to a disturbance. Dispatch advised responding officers that the complainant reports that her son was possibly intoxicated and had assaulted her.

Upon McCauley’s arrival, the officer allegedly met White in the driveway of the residence. The suspect was placed in handcuffs at the time while officers further investigated the situation, according to McCauley.

While White was being handcuffed, McCauley reportedly smelt the “overwhelming chemical odor” of what McCauley believed was PCP coming from White. McCauley then spoke with White’s elderly 73-year-old mother, who told the officer that her son became upset about a firearm he believed was in the residence. The victim further said that she attempted to hide him in a room to avoid her son’s violent outburst, but White was attempting to break the door down to get to her.

White’s mother reportedly attempted to calm the suspect down and get him to leave the residence voluntarily, but, when she was trying to unlock the front door, White allegedly began striking his mother with a small cooler that knocked her to the ground. Despite his mother being on the ground, White continued to allegedly strike her in the legs.

The elderly victim was able to finally get outside prior to police arriving, according to the report. EMS was summoned to check the status of White’s mother, and paramedics observed that the victim had redness and small swelling on the left shin area of her leg.

White was transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where he was still being held as of Jan. 21 in lieu of $10,000 total bond.
