A Texas Peace Officer’s Crash Report obtained by The Examiner named Walter “Loddie” Naymola as the “Unit 1” driver who, witnesses told police, drove through the intersection of Dowlen and Gladys and crashed into five other cars. The report’s writer anticipated a potential “intoxication assault” charge, as penned in the filed paperwork.

An unredacted, yet incomplete, report regarding the six-car accident at the intersection of Dowlen and Gladys lists “intoxication assault – citation number (2022-12357)” as a charge for the “Unit 1” driver, named as Naymola. However, BPD confirmed that no charges have been filed as of press time. According to a BPD spokesperson, the department is awaiting toxicology reports for alcohol and drugs – which could take up to nine months.

Witnesses told officers Naymola was driving north on Dowlen “at high rate of speed” when he drove into the southbound lanes at the Westgate intersection “to get around traffic.”

“Witnesses observed Unit 1 strike Unit 2 and become airborne,” the report reads. “Impact forced Unit 2 into (southbound) lanes, where she struck Unit 4 and Unit 5. After being airborne, Unit 1 then struck Unit 3. Both Unit 1 and Unit 3 continued (northbound) for a distance before coming to a stop. Unit 6 driver stated her vehicle was struck by flying debris.”

Including Naymola, first responders took at least eight people to CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth, according to the report. The report can be found by clicking the "Crash report web" PDF link below.
