The Hardin County Sheriff's Office reported three people were arrested on multiple drug and gun charges. They also seized a quarter pound of methamphetamine.
Feb. 6, Hardin County Special Assignments Unit (SAU) investigators were patrolling the Woodcrest Addition and surrounding area in Lumberton after receiving citizen complaints regarding high speeds and possible narcotics activity.
SAU investigators attempted a traffic stop on a 2013 GMC truck on Mitchell Road, but the vehicle refused to stop and it fled into the neighborhood. The occupants were throwing contraband from the vehicle along the pursuit route.
Officers finally stopped the truck near Harvard Drive and three people were taken into custody. They were
Marcus Wade Meehan, 52, and Sidney Mayo West, 47, both of Lumberton; and Jolee Marie Lowe, 37, of Vidor.
Investigators seized more than a quarter of pound of methamphetamine and a handgun. The Lumberton Police Department assisted in the capture of the three suspects.
"We encourage citizens to continue to report suspected criminal activity in their neighborhoods," said Hardin County Sheriff Mark Davis. "Complaints of speeders and reckless driving often lead investigators to discover more serious crimes such as illegal drugs, weapons violations and wanted fugitives."
Hardin County Justice of the Peace Pct. 1 Chris Ingram set bonds.
Meehan was charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, Penalty Group (PG) 1 (third-degree felony and $200,000 bond); tampering with evidence (third-degree, $75,000 bond), evading arrest/detention with previous convictions (third-degree, $50,000 bond), unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon (third-degree, $75,000 bond), possession of a controlled substance, PG 3 (Class A misdemeanor, $5,000 bond); and unlawful carry of a weapon (Class A misdemeanor, $5,000 bond)
West and Lowe were each charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, PG 1, (first-degree, $200,000 bond) and tampering with evidence (third-degree, $75,000 bond).
