Game room robber arrested in the act

Beaumont police arrested a 30-year-old man who they caught in the process of robbing a game room on Stagg Drive May 30.

When BPD officers responded to a robbery in progress at the J Player LLC game room at about 9:30 a.m., they found Roderick McKinney and arrested him without incident.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect entered the store, displayed a firearm and demanded money from the employee,” officers reported. “The employee was able to call 911 during the robbery, and officers arrived and took the suspect into custody.”

Officers transported McKinney to the police department to speak with detectives before booking him into the county jail. As of press time, McKinney appeared on the inmate roster with a $70,750 bond.
