On Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 4:10 p.m., the Beaumont Police Department responded to the 5000 block of College Street in reference to a major crash involving a motorcycle. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on college at a high rate of speed when a vehicle traveling eastbound, turned from the middle turning lane across the westbound lanes. The motorcyclist struck the vehicle, was ejected and pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the car suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
The deceased victim has been identified as Joseph Paul Richardson, a 22-year-old Ponchatoula, Louisiana resident. The investigation is ongoing.
