Bond set for alleged bank robber

Friday, Jan. 6, Beaumont police responded to Chase Bank located at 6025 Eastex in reference to a bank robbery. Prior to officers’ arrival, the suspect fled in a vehicle, of which witnesses were able to give a description, including the license plate number. Within 30 minutes of the call for assistance, At 4:10 p.m., BPD detectives located the suspect vehicle at 2015 N. 11th St. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and transported to BPD to speak with detectives.

The suspect was identified as Michal Raymond Karras, a 64-year-old Houston resident. After speaking with detectives, Karras was placed under arrest for robbery and transported to the Jefferson County Jail. Judge Ben Collins set bond at $500,000.
