Looking to explore Lamar University? Look no further than Cardinal View – an event scheduled Saturday, March 4, beginning at 9 a.m. that allows prospective students, friends, and families to really see what student life can be like at Lamar.

“Our faculty are always eager to visit with prospective students along with current students and student organizations,” said Deidra Mayer, executive director of admissions and aid. “We know sometimes it can be difficult to really determine what college can be a good fit and we feel this is the best way. We have on hand staff from financial aid, scholarships, admissions, housing, and all academic programs so that no matter what type of interest or question you might have, we will have an answer.”

Think of it as a massive open house that allows you to take a guided campus and residence hall tour; learn about admissions, financial aid and scholarships; meet faculty from more than 60 academic programs; visit with students about campus involvement as well as LU’s Greek life, clubs and organizations; meet LU admission counselors; plus grab a free T-shirt and enter to win a $500 scholarship.

Check-in begins at 9 a.m. at the Sheila Umphrey Rec Sports Center. From there, prospective students as well as family members can attend the Academic Showcase (9-10:30 a.m.), visit the Student Organization Fair (9-10:30 a.m.), Campus and Community Resource Fair (10 a.m. to noon), as well as numerous events regarding admissions, Texas Success Initiative, scholarships and financial aid sessions.

For those who may have the munchies, lunch will be served at Brooks-Shivers Dining Hall for $5 or you can visit Starbucks, Chick-fil-A and Smoothie King, which are all on campus.
