Narcotics investigation nabs six suspects

After responding to a “suspected narcotics transaction” just outside Beaumont’s city limits on Highway 90 Wednesday, Dec. 1, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies arrested six Southeast Texans and seized approximately $12,000 in cash, a bevy of drugs and several weapons over two days.

According to a news release, investigators stopped a vehicle after witnessing a suspected narcotics transaction. The driver was identified as 38-year-old Charles Boren of Orange, and the passenger was identified as 32-year-old Jennifer Weyler of Kountze. Boren and Weyler were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and taken to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. Officers seized 1 pound of marijuana, methamphetamine and two bags of pills officers suspect to be Fentanyl or Carfentanil. Additionally, while being booked in, Weyler was found to be concealing a bag of methamphetamine and pills in her “undergarments,” officers say.

The investigation continued into Thursday, where two more vehicles were stopped while under surveillance. The first vehicle was driven by 42-year-old Paul Eddy of Highlands. He was found to have a methamphetamine pipe, along with methamphetamine and a loaded pistol.

The second vehicle stopped was driven by 26-year-old Austin Metcalf of Lumberton. Metcalf had a felony warrant for his arrest and was found to have methamphetamine in his pocket, as well as ammo and loaded clips.

Two passengers in the vehicle were identified as 36-year-old Damion Thibodeaux of Cleveland and 29-year-old Brianna Thomas of Vidor. Thibodeaux also had outstanding felony warrants and was arrested. Prior to being transported to the jail, Thibodeaux was found to be concealing a bag with methamphetamine in his pants. Thomas gave consent to search her purse that was found to be in possession of a bag of methamphetamine, according to the news release, at which time she was also arrested.
