A senior on LU’s 2023 squad, Quinn Waterhouse signed a free agent contract with the Ogden Raptors of the Pioneer League.

At 6-4, 210 pounds, Waterhouse transferred to Lamar for his final season of collegiate eligibility. The southpaw made 21 appearances for the Cardinals – including three starts – with a 2-1 record and a 3.91 ERA in 36 innings of work. The Bondurant, Iowa native also struck out 16 batters on the season.

The PBL, which began in 1939, is an independent baseball league consisting of 10 teams that operates in the Rocky Mountain region of the United States. While its teams are not directly affiliated with Major League Baseball, it is a designated partner league of MLB. From 1964-2020, the Pioneer League was a designated MLB Rookie-level league and has served a Class A affiliate level in the past as well.

Senior catcher Ryan Snell snagged yet another post-season honor as the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) named the Hardin, Texas native third-team All-American.

The honor comes just three days after Snell received ABCA First-Team All-Region honors.

One of just three players still vying for the coveted Buster Posey Award, which is given annually to the nation's top collegiate catcher, Snell put together one of the best seasons in program history. He was named 2023 Southland Conference Player of the Year after recording a .317/.412/.654 slash line with 17 home runs, 17 doubles and 58 runs driven in. All of those marks ranked among the Southland Conference leaders.

Snell’s 17 long balls, two of which came in an upset at No. 5 Texas A&M, including the gamewinner, were the second-best mark in the conference this past season, as well as placing him just one shy of the school’s single-season record.
