Cross country runners qualify for UIL State

A host of Southeast Texas high school cross country runners have advanced to the UIL State Championship, at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock, Texas, on Nov. 2-4.

Class 5A, Morgan Campbell of Port Neches-Groves qualified with a second-place finish in the region 5K race in 19:14.

Gaige Gordey of Lumberton will represent the Raiders’ boys’ team in Class 4A. He finished 15th.

In the 4A girls’ race, Hamshire-Fannett’s Adison Richard advanced with a second-place finish while teammate Trinity Gordon will join her. Ava Anderson of Bridge City was 14th, she too will compete for a state championship in Class 4A.
