Kountze boys head basketball coach Duane Joubert won his 600th career game Jan. 12 when the Lions defeated Kirbyville, 105-25.

Silsbee junior Jena Warden recorded her 1,000th career point Jan. 2 when the Lady Tigers defeated Vidor, 77-38.

Megan Worry, an assistant basketball and volleyball coach at Silsbee, will be inducted as a member of the 2017-18 women’s basketball team into the 2024 Loyola University-New Orleans Wolf Park Athletic Hall of Fame on Jan. 20.

The 2017-18 women’s basketball team became the third women’s basketball team to enter the Hall of Fame, and the second under current head coach Kellie Kennedy. They produced a 26-6 overall record on its way to Kennedy’s third SSAC Championship in four seasons before winning a NAIA National Championship tournament game.

In her four years with the LUNO women’s basketball team, Worry became the all-time leader in blocks with 134 her senior season. A former Lumberton Lady Raider standout, Worry is also seventh in career rebounds (677) and had a high of 303 in 2018-19, currently fifth in individual season rebounding at LUNO. She also is fourth all-time in career 3-point shooting with 189.

Silsbee senior LaMarcus Bottley scored his 1,000th career point Jan. 12 when the Tigers defeated West OrangeStark, 107-62.

Teammate and fellow senior Jared Harris was nominated for the 2024 McDonald’s All-American Game. The 6-foot-4 guard, who signed to play col- lege basketball at the University of Memphis, was one of 729 nominees across the country. The final list of 24 players will be announced Tuesday, Jan. 24, during “NBA Today” between 2-3 p.m. on ESPN.
