A Beaumont man was indicted March 3 for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend after she confronted him for bringing “several” women to their home around midnight.

Beaumont police were dispatched to Raven Street in reference to an assault just after midnight Dec. 28, 2020. Officers arrived to find a 59-year-old woman with red-colored bruises on her body, as well as swelling in both eyes. The victim told officers her boyfriend, Ernie Zachary, 53, assaulted her after a verbal confrontation took place about his act of disrespect.

The couple began to argue because Zachary brought several women home, causing the victim to call out her boyfriend for being disrespectful. The argument moved to their backyard, where Zachary began punching and kicking his live-in girlfriend. The responding officers arrested Zachary for assault/family violence, a third degree felony.
