UPDATE: Nederland High School no longer on lockdown

Nederland High School is no longer on lockdown. Nederland ISD issued the following statement:

"On the morning of January 19th, Nederland High School received a threat via phone call to the front office. The NHS school resource officer had communication with the caller. NHS was immediately put on lockdown and the Nederland Police Department was contacted. The response was a joint effort between the Nederland Police Department, Port Neches Police Department, Groves Police Department, Jefferson County Sherriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety. The threat was determined to be non-credible and the lockdown has been lifted. At 11:00am Nederland High School will resume normal operating procedures. For the remainder of the day, there will be an increased law enforcement presence around the campus. As always, the safety of our faculty, students, and staff is our top priority. We appreciate the cooperation of our school community."

According to parents of Nederland ISD, they received a phone call from the high school that at approximately 9:45 a.m. that the facility was placed on locked down.

Nederland ISD posted the following statement on their Facebook page:

”Nederland High School is currently under a lockdown. NHS received a threat via a phone call. The Nederland Police Department was contacted immediately and are on the scene. Nederland High School will stay on lockdown until the investigation has been completed. All students, faculty, and staff are safe at this time.”
