Third party shot during disturbance

On Thursday, April 2, at about 11:30 p.m., Beaumont police responded to a residence in the 400 block of Giles in reference to a victim of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located a victim inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a disturbance occurred between two people at the residence. The victim attempted to resolve the disturbance; however, the disturbance continued to escalate and gunfire was exchanged between the two parties, in which the victim was struck. Both subjects involved in the disturbance fled prior to officers' arrival. The victim was transported to a local hospital and was listed in critical condition. BPD reported, it is believed that the disturbance was a result of illegal narcotics activity. The investigation is on-going.
