House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Energy, Climate, and Grid Security Subcommittee Chair Jeff Duncan (R-SC) announced an upcoming field hearing in Port Arthur titled “Biden’s LNG Export Ban: How Rushto-Green Politics Hurts Local Commu- nities and U.S. Energy Security,” set for 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 8, at Lamar State College-Port Arthur, 1800 Lakeshore Dr.

The hearing will examine the importance of U.S. LNG exports to local communities, the U.S. economy, and the security of American allies. Witnesses will be announced and are by invitation only.

“Workers, families and the people living in energy producing communities, like Port Arthur, benefit from the energy industry through good paying jobs, tax revenues for school districts, and many other economic opportunities,” stated Rodgers. “This hearing will be an opportunity to hear firsthand from local leaders about the importance of the LNG industry for their community and beyond.”

Southeast Texas Rep. Randy Weber (TX-14) will join the two committee chairs at the hearing. Weber is a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, where he serves on the Energy, Climate, and Grid Security, Communications and Technology, Environment, Manufacturing, and Critical Materials Subcommittees. He is also a member of the Ports Opportunity, Renewal, Trade, and Security (PORTS) Caucus, and the Congressional Natural Gas Caucus.

The hearing will be open to the public and livestreamed online at https://energycommerce.house.gov/.
