Police respond to school threat

The Silsbee ISD and Silsbee Police Departments have identified the originator of the Twitter post that stated a possible threat to Edwards-Johnson Memorial Silsbee Middle School, reported Kelsey Johnson, SISD communications director.

Johnson stated that police have spoken directly to the originator of the post and, so far in the joint investigation, no direct threat has been found to exist.

There was an increase in police presence at the campuses on Sept. 6 and officials continued in their investigation.

She said Silsbee ISD uses StopIt, which is a way for students and families to report any concern they have anonymously. It’s under the “Resources For Parents” section on the SISD website.

“Silsbee ISD takes all threat claims seriously and investigates each claim. The safety and well-being of our students and staff will remain a top priority,” said district officials.
