After police found him in possession of crack cocaine while searching for a shooting suspect March 1, a Jefferson County grand jury indicted a 26-year-old Port Arthur man June 8.

A PAPD officer was searching for a shooting suspect in the Prince Hall Village Apartments parking lot when they noticed men who were wanted for other crimes. Among the Prince Hall parking lot occupants was Royal Lee Greer, 26, who officers found in possession of 3.62 grams of cocaine.

“Prince Hall is located in an area with a high crime rate and is primarily known for drug trafficking and violent crimes,” officers wrote in the probable cause affidavit detailing Greer’s alleged crime.

Greer faces a third-degree possession of a controlled substance charge and, as of press time, was not listed on the Jefferson County inmate roster.
