Nine vehicles involved in Dec. 27 I-10 crash

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported a multiple vehicle crash on Interstate- 10 West, near the Hamshire exit on Dec. 27.

According to DPS, the preliminary investigation indicates that, at approximately 2:10 p.m., a 2017 Land Rover SUV was traveling west and struck the rear of a vehicle that left the scene. The 2017 Land Rover SUV was then struck in the rear by a 2019 Acura SUV. This caused a chain reaction with the following vehicles: a 2022 Honda SUV, a 2015 Dodge SUV, a 2020 Chevrolet passenger car, a 2013 Dodge SUV, a 2019 Ford pickup and a 2015 Nissan SUV.

Only one person was injured. Justin Abshire, 39, of Lake Arthur, La., the driver of the 2019 Ford pickup, was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.
