Officers from the Beaumont Police Department arrested a man believed responsible for the death of a man found in the remains of an early October house fire.

Oct. 25, BPD announced that 39-year-old Channin Keon Ardoin was arrested and charged with murder for the Oct. 7 death of Jason West of Beaumont.

Oct. 7, officers responded to the 4500 block of Dallas Ave. just after 9 a.m. to assist Beaumont Fire Rescue with a structure fire, when a fire investigator discovered a deceased person inside the residence.

The victim’s blue 2012 Hyundai Sonata was not located at the scene, and investigators believe Ardoin drove West’s blue vehicle to Huntington, where he wrecked the car and fled on foot after being spotted by a Huntington police officer. When captured, Ardoin was back in Beaumont.
