Kountze family of 6 injured in 2-vehicle crash

JASPER COUNTY — A Kountze family of six was injured in a two-vehicle crash on June 2, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Sgt. Shana Clark, DPS spokesperson, reported a total of two adults and seven children were injured in the crash between two SUVs occurred at the intersection of State Highway 63 West and FM 2799.
Clark stated the preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 9:50 p.m., a 2009 Saturn SUV was traveling west while a 2000 Chevrolet SUV was traveling east. It is reported that the driver of the Chevrolet failed to yield to the Saturn when it struck the Saturn on its left side, causing it to overturn into the medium. The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 30-year-old Kara Johnson of Kountze, was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. 
In her vehicle were five child passengers involved, a 10-year-old, two 6-year-olds, and a 7-year-old, all transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital and one 4-year-old child was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Saturn, identified as 27-year-old Kendra Guller of Orange, was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. 
There were two child passengers involved, a 7-year-old and a 6-year-old, both transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Clark noted the investigation is ongoing and there is no further information available at this time.
